Lorne Edgar Scriver was born circa 1889 at Gravenhurst, District of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. He and Dorothy Mary Ashman, daughter of Thomas Ashman and Sarah Shaw, were married by Reverend D. Given on Friday, 6 September 1912 at Toronto, York Co., Ontario, Canada. He is registered as being single, age 23, Methodist and she is listed as single, age 18, Church of England. Grant Waney and H. A. Waney witnessed the marriage. He began military service on 27 January 1916 at Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada, when he signed his Attestation Paper, becoming regimental #643958 with the 157'th BN., Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Forces. He was living at 45 Front Street, Orillia, working as a shed foreman for the C.P.R., and listed his next of kin as Mrs. Dorothy A Scriver, Longford Mills, wife. He passed his medical examination on February 9, 1916, and was described as: 5' 5" tall, ruddy complexion, brown eyes, light brown hair. He had no distinctive marks. Lorne died on Monday, 9 July 1951.
