She appeared on the census of 8 April 1881 in the household of Josiah Hebner at Markham Twp., York Co., Ontario, Canada. She was listed as: Heebner, Mary, female, age 16, born Ontario, Free Methodist, of German origin, going to school. She and Alfred Spring, son of Joseph Spring and Elizabeth Brooks, were married by Minister J. H. Shults on Tuesday, 6 February 1883 at Scarborough Twp., York Co., Ontario, Canada. She was 18, living in Markham, spinster, Methodist. He was 20, living in Scarborough Twp., bachelor, laborer, Christian. Sarah Ann Hebner and Albert Spring witnessed the marriage. Mary died on Friday, 2 May 1884 at Scarborough Twp., York Co., Ontario, Canada, due to scarlet fever, duration of 3 days. Doctor D. McDiarmid attended at the death. (Her newborn daughter Ethel Spring died shortly after, also of scarlet fever.).
