     Jesse Austin Cook was also known as Austin Cook. He was born on Saturday, 5 February 1898 at Zephyr, Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada. He began military service on 12 April 1916 at Whitby, Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada, when he signed his attestation papers, becoming regimental #868251 with the 182nd Battalion. He was born Feb. 5, 1898 in Scott Twp., living in Port Perry, listed his mother in Zephyr as his next of kin, was working as a Clerk Druggist. On Feb. 17, 1916 he was deemed fit for service and described as follows: 5' 6", fair complexion, blue eyes, auburn hair, Methodist. He had no distinguishing marks. He and Florence Olive Ross, daughter of Henry Ross and Winnifred Stokes, were married by Minister Donald Tail on Wednesday, 22 July 1925 at the United Church, Mount Albert, York Co., Ontario, Canada. He was 27, salesman, bachelor, Methodist, living at 286 Eglinton Ave E., Toronto. She was 26, spinster, school teacher, Presbyterian, living in Mount Albert. They were both able to read and write. Lorne Mainprize and Mary Eldred Ross witnessed the marriage. Jesse died on Monday, 11 May 1998 at Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario, Canada, at age 100 years, 3 months and 6 days. He was buried on Thursday, 14 May 1998 at Mount Albert Cemetery, Mount Albert, York Co., Ontario, Canada.
