Mae Johnston

     Mae Johnston was also known as Louretta Mae Johnston. She was born illegitimate on 13 October 1910 at Lot 30, Conc. 4, Scott Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada. Her mother registered the birth and was listed as single, working out, and her address was Zephyr P.O. Mae was raised by her grandparents as their daughter. She appeared on the census of 1911 in the household of Joseph Johnston at Scott Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada. She was recorded as: Johnston, May, female, granddaughter, single, born Oct 1910, age 9 months, of English origin, Canadian, Methodist. She and William Maurice Snooks, son of William John Snooks and Mary Catherine Melinda McEwan, were married by United Church Minister N. P. Quaif on Wednesday, 21 November 1928 at Zephyr, Ontario Co., Ontario, Canada. She was 18, spinster, at home, United Church, born Scott Twp., living in Scott Twp., able to read and write. He was 23, bachelor, farmer, United Church, born and living in Georgina Twp., able to read and write. William John Snooks and Mabel Melinda Elizabeth Snooks witnessed the marriage. Mae died on Monday, 19 March 1984 at age 73 years, 5 months and 6 days.
